 It was just a few days before her warrior ceremony . She was so excited. Until horrible news was told to her by the medicine cat. Her parents were sick . Her parents accidentally shared a rotten vole and came down with a terrible illness . The day before he ceremony her father died , her mother didn't..but after her ceremony when Whitefawn came to greet her mother ....
"Mom Mom did you see that!!!! I'm now Whitefawn!!"
Her mother looked at her pride in her eyes "I'm so..proud of you" she coughed loudly then put a paw to Whitefawns cheek "I'm sure your father is very proud as well..." she went into another coughing fit then layer her head down eyes rolling into the back of her head her body going limp. Soon loud sobs could be heard from the medicine cats den.
 Upon hearing the sobs, Slatefur looked up from the prey pile where he'd been busy deciding between a plump mouse, or a nice bird. "What is going on over there?" He wondered then remembering that Whitefawn's parents had been sick he quickly realized what had happened. "Oh no..." He muttered to himself as he stood up, his meal forgotten as he headed towards the medicine den.
 The medicine cat was patting her back as Whitefawn lay crying on her mothers body "why did you have to go too?" She sobbed
 Slatefur sat there awkwardly. Unsure of what to do. Finally he said. "Perhaps so she wouldn't have to experience life without your father. And she knew you'd be strong enough to go on without her."
 Whitefawn looked up her eyes brightened seeing him there "Ima strong because they taught me to be strong..And so did you" she sniffles then hugged him crying into his shoulder
 Slatefur stiffened instinctively. "I don't think I've taught you much. But if you think so then i suppose i have..." He said quietly.
 "How could you say that? You've been my only friend...the only person who can tolerate me..."
 "Oh please. Plenty of cats can tolerate you. You're still in the clan are you not? You've still become a warrior yes? Therefore plenty of cats tolerate you."
 "Yes but you are the most supportive one. You are my brother in spirit Slatefur..." she sniffles then smiled at him looking down at her mother realizing the smile on her dead body "...atleast she died happy...."
 "Exactly." He said. "In this life there's not much more we can ask for."
 She sighed "I just...wish dad could have seen my warrior ceremony..."
 "I'm sure he was watching."
 She nodded tears filling her eyes again "I...I don't know why I'm crying...I don't even want to cry" she laughed at herself
 "One generally doesn't." He said with a small chuckle.
 She punched him playfully "oh shoosh"is she sighed and looked at the dead body again "I guess...she should get Burried shouldn't she?..."
 "We'll worry about that later... The medicine cat has to prepare her body anyway..."
 She nodded then smiled sadly "I'm just glad she got to see my warrior ceremony..."
 "She did get to see that." He said with a nod.
 she smiled "yeah...." she sighed sadly then sighed "man I wa so emotional just a few minutes ago now I'm completely calm, how in the world did that happen?" she laughed
 "Only Starclan knows." He said with another chuckle. "Anyway, we should probably leave the medicine cat to their job, and get out of the way."
 she nodded "y-yeah" still slightly shaken from what happened earlier
